Emelyn finished her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at Divine Word College of Calapan. She worked at PTON Corporation, a Japanese owned manufacturing company in Rosario, Cavite as Finance Manager before migrating to Canada in March 2012. She is currently employed as full cycle accountant at GENGroup Restaurants at South Surrey, BC and completing the Practical Experience required for CPA, CGA designation. She is now enjoying the Canadian life with husband and friends after passing all CGA courses.

Ferdinand Martires or Andy as commonly called by family and friends, is an audit and accounting professional with experience in diverse industries. After passing the CPA Licensure Examinations, Andy started his career at the Internal Audit Service of the Philippine Postal Corporation, as an Internal Audit Team Lead for 4 years then as Chief of Finance and Operations Audit Division for 2 years, obtaining his MBA degree on the side before he was appointed as Director for Finance and Administration of the National Capital Region of that Corporation. In Canada he worked as Trust Accountant at the Alderwoods Group, Inc. a large publicly listed multi-national corporation, which moved its accounting office to the US due to a merger. Following that, he worked with the BC provincial government as a Commercial Gaming Auditor. Presently, he is working in partnership with his wife Tess in their tax and accounting practice, the Martires Business Consulting Services, Inc. DBA Smart Tax and Business Solutions. He plans of becoming a CIA and either a US CPA or a Canadian accounting designation.

Paolo Sanchez was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. He attended St. Patrick's High School and later completed his B.A in Economics at S.F.U. He also earned an Accounting Diploma from the Sauder Business School at U.B.C. He is currently enrolled in PA1 (PACE level) of the C.G.A. program. At present, he works as a Financial Analyst at Mavi Jeans Inc., Canada. In his spare time, he enjoys staying active by engaging in various outdoor activities, playing recreational sports and doing Cross Fit training. Last August, he successfully run the first Whistler "Tough Mudder" 12 miles obstacle course.

Vangie has just earned her CGA designation in September 2015. Currently, she is working as an Accountant with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia, the organization that regulates pharmacy profession in BC.
She also has her CPA license back in the Philippines. She had extensive work experience in various facets of accounting gained mostly from multinational companies. She usually devotes her free time doing volunteer work, reading books and playing badminton.

Mary Anthonette Tecson is currently the Asst. Manager of Skills Connect Program for Immigrants at ISS of BC covering the lower mainland. At the same time, she is also the Coordinator for Employer Solutions, a program that connects immigrants to employers.
She arrived in Canada in 2007. Mary started her career with Landbank of the Philippines as a teller and then became an internal auditor. She later moved to a Malaysian Bank- Maybank, as the Head of Credit Review Department under the Audit Group. She was able to obtain her Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) designation before migrating.
She initially started working as a risk analyst/auditor with Overwaitea grp. She went around western Canada and conducted field audit of supermarkets and pharmacies.
In 2010, she became the Micro-Loans Consultant, Program Advisor of the Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP) for BC and a Work Placement Facilitator at Diversecity. Mary gets her motivation and joy in volunteering with the Parent Support Society of BC, the church and the community. She also sits in the Board/council of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association, Philippine Canada Trade Council, and a residential strata.

Patrick graduated with a BCOM Finance Hons. from the Sauder School of Business UBC in May 2014. As the previous community relations director of the UBC Kababyan Filipino Students Association, he developed a working relationship between the club and AFCA-BC and eventually aspired for a more active role in AFCA. He is currently working in the Corporate Finance department at WorkSafeBC performing accounting services functions. Besides AFCA, he is also involved with the Young Filipino Professionals of Vancouver and the UBC FSA Alumni. He is currently taking the CPA pre-requisite courses and eventually become a successful CPA candidate.

Jorge comes from the beautiful province of Bohol, Philippines. He earned his Bachelor in Accountancy from Holy Name University in 1998 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1999. After becoming a Certified Public Accountant, Jorge worked in the banking industry for two years in credit and collection, bookkeeping, and internal audit. Before moving to Canada, he worked in the manufacturing industry for 7 years in internal audit and treasury.
In Canada, Jorge enjoyed working in the not-for-profit sector making a difference in the lives of animals in British Columbia. He also enjoyed doing volunteer work inspired by the Canadian society's spirit of volunteering. With his determination and hard work, Jorge became a Chartered Professional Accountant in 2015.

Julian graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics from De La Salle University-Manila in February 2012. He is currently pursuing his CPA, CGA and CFA designations. While in Manila, he worked in Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company after taking the Philippine CPA board exams. In Canada, he has been working in the University of British Columbia in various capacities over the last three years. Currently, he is the Finance Manager of UBC's Peter A. Allard School of Law. He is a big sports fan and follows basketball, tennis, and cycling religiously. He enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, going hiking, and watching television.

Rowena Altamirano finished her Bachelors degree in Accounting from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. She is a Certified Public Accountant from the Philippines and has been with the accounting profession for more than 10 years. She spent the first 4 years of her career with SGV & Co. (An Ernst and Young member affiliate), then later joined the finance team of Innodata Inc. She eventually joined Accenture Philippines and was with the company for 4 years before she migrated to Canada in December 2010. Shalimar is an audit and accounting professional with over 10 years' experience within diverse industries. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy from the prestigious University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She joined Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co. as an auditor after passing the CPA Board Exams. She moved on to being an Internal Auditor with United Coconut Planter Bank (UCPB). During her stint with UCPB that she decided to pursue the Certified Internal Auditor designation, she successfully passed the exams in 2003. In 2004, she joined San Miguel Corporation (SMC) as an Internal Auditor. Then, she was offered the position of Finance and Administration Head for Luzon operations of the newly set-up Finance Department of its Shipping and Lighterage Corporation, a subsidiary and the official logistics arm of San Miguel group of companies. She stayed with SMC for over 6 years before eventually migrating to Canada in 2011. Currently, she is working as an Accountant with a Richmond-based Canadian aerospace, information services and products company. In addition, she is actively pursuing her CGA designation.

Marilyn finished her Bachelor of Liberal Arts major in Behavioral Science and Bachelor of Commerce major in Accounting from De La Salle University-Manila. She joined SGV & Co. shortly after taking the Philippine CPA board exams. She spent 2 years as an auditor before moving on to join several industries occupying different positions. Shailene is currently the controller of the Diocese of New Westminster - Anglican Church of Canada, a Course Marker at CGA-BC and a Course Marker Trainee at CPA Canada. She is also a charity consultant for religious organizations. She worked for 7 years as accounting manager of Congregation Beth Israel in Vancouver. She also worked at Sycip, Gorres Velayo & Co (Ernst & Young Philippines) for 3 years prior to migrating to Canada in March 2007. She was recognized as "One of the Top 10" graduates in CGA-BC in 2013 and graduated Summa cum Laude (highest honours) in her BS Accountancy Degree from Far Eastern University, Philippines in 2003.
Shailene also serves on the Board of 5 non-profit organizations including Worldwide Missions of Canada. In January 2015, the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies of Canada has given her the title of "Commissioned Missionary" and the Kainos Zoe Evangelical Church Mission ordained her as a pastor. About Cecil Sanchez
Cecilio Sanchez was born in the city of Pasig in the Philippines to Josefa and Isidoro Sanchez. Graduated with a BSBA at the University of the Philippines and was an AFS scholar in the USA before coming to Canada. In the year 1985, Cecilio not only earned his CMA designation but also became a BC CMA Gold Medalist. Currently, he works as the Manager of Corporate Accounting at Westfraser Timber. Eloisa is a seasoned auditor and accountant. About Jannet Taruc
Jannet Taruc is a Controller at Pacific Coast Fishermens's Mutual Marine Insurance Company. Prior to joining the company in September 2012, she was an Audit and Assurance Manager with Grant Thornton LLP in Vancouver for 8 years. She migrated to Canada in December 2003 and became a Chartered Accountant in 2007. In Manila, she worked at Paramount Life and General Insurance Corporation for five years starting at an Accounting Manager position to Assistant Vice President for Accounting and Finance. She also worked at Sycip Gorres Velayo & Company for four years after graduating from De La Salle University, Manila with a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy. Julian graduated Magna Cum Laude, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics from De La Salle University-Manila in December 2011. He gained his CPA designation in the Philippines in May 2012, and worked in the Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company briefly as a Junior Assistant Manager before moving to Canada in December 2012. About Mel Cruz
Mel is a CGA and retired in January 2011 after thirty-plus years of service with Canada Revenue Agency where he held senior management positions and was a Large Business Case manager at the time of his retirement. He is very active with AFCA and other volunteer organizations, enjoys playing golf and keeps his mind in shape by operating a consulting business. About Shirley Shannon
Shirley Shannon, a CGA is the Business Development Manager for Accounting Troubleshooters, a network of accounting professionals in the Lower Mainland of BC. She is also a lead instructor for Finance/Accounting, Quickbooks and Simply at 1 Stop Business Centre. Hands-on experience as Controller and Accountant both in industry and in public practice provided her with strong accounting operational skills. Michael graduated with a BCom-Accounting from the Sauder School of Business UBC in 2010. He is a Certified Management Accountant with over 4 years of experience. Michael started his career in the private sector working for an investment company. After attaining his CMA, he transitioned into his current role as an Intermediate Accountant with the BC Teachers' Federation. About Tess Martires
Tess is currently serving as a Director of AFCA-BC and a Mentorship Program Coordinator for Year 2011. A Philippine Certified Public Accountant, she was born and raised in Daanbantayan, Cebu, Philippines. She finished her Bachelor in Business Administration from the Arellano University in Manila with honours as a Magna Cum-Laude. She is blessed with four children: Serg, Carl, Andrea and Nicole. Her husband Andy is also a member of AFCA-BC.
